ABOUT ME
NAME: Taylor Catton
ACCOMPLISHMENTS : I have been a two time select for Peoria Journal Star, Nominee for Baseball player of the year, First Team All-Conference, Three year varsity player, MVP of the Mid Illini, and soon to be Division I Athlete.
MY PURPOSE: My overall goal of this entire blog is going to be to explain the recruiting process by giving tips, showing examples, and helping you understand how it's going to work. Now the other goal I have that I didn't just mention is to keep you engaged. This is the hardest part making sure I use my voice, speak my mind and keep this interesting. I apologize in advance if you've already stopped reading, because I promise you that within good time it will get better or technically I guess it might not. :/
MY PROCESS: As a sixteen year old kid I was exposed to the world of recruitment. I didn’t know what to expect, what to say, shoot I didn’t have a darn clue. I entered the process and it hit me like, well you know the scene in click when Adam Sandler just slaps David Hasselhoff? Well it was a lot like that! One day I was just another 5"8 kid playing the game he loves. Then with a little video and a few emails I woke up and talked to five different division I schools. Luckily, I did some research and everything that I did happened at the right time. Oddly enough that’s really what happens, meaning that everything sort of falls into place at the right time and it only takes one good moment. Fifteen minutes of fame is the name of this game.
TRUST: I have been through the recruiting process many different times with my friends my family and myself. I have a first hand account with an uncle that went through the process in the 90’s, and I also have friends plus myself for the evolution of the process. I know this issue in and out, I am very close with a recruiting coordinator that has sent 78 kids to colleges and then 12 of those playing professional baseball at some point. Believe in me when I explain everything, I have the resources, and I have the experience.
